to the formation of singers and the enrichment of catholic liturgical life in the Tampa Bay area.

Drawing from both the Roman Catholic and English choral traditions, The Saint Dunstan Schola provides a serious yet joyful environment where adults and young choristers rehearse, learn, and sing together. This intergenerational model allows younger singers to be formed through regular contact with experienced musicians, while adult singers participate not only as ensemble members but also as models of discipline, reverence, and musical excellence.

The mission of The Saint Dunstan Schola is to glorify God and form souls through the beauty of sacred music.
We seek to:
- Train children and youth through the Chorister Guild in the art and discipline of choral singing
- Form adults and young choristers together in one intergenerational ensemble

What We Do
The Chorister Guild
The Chorister Guild of The Saint Dunstan Schola provides structured musical formation for children and youth through the Royal School of Church Music’s Voice for Life curriculum, augmented by substantial instruction in Gregorian chant, sight-singing, music theory, vocal production, liturgical Latin, and choral discipline.
At the heart of the Chorister Guild is the conviction that children are formed best when they are invited into a real musical community. Rather than separating young choristers from adult singers, The Saint Dunstan Schola brings them together in one ensemble, allowing children to learn by listening, watching, imitating, and participating alongside experienced musicians.
This approach gives young singers something rare: regular exposure to mature voices, disciplined rehearsal habits, confident music reading, beautiful tone, and the lived example of adults who take sacred music seriously. Choristers are not treated as a side program or preparatory choir; they are full participants in a shared choral life.
Intergenerational Choral Formation
Adults and children sing together as one ensemble. This is one of the defining features of The Saint Dunstan Schola.
In many places, children’s choirs and adult choirs are kept separate. The Saint Dunstan Schola takes a different approach. We intentionally combine adults and young choristers because the arrangement benefits everyone involved.
For children, singing with adults provides musical models, confidence, accountability, and a deeper sense of belonging. They learn the habits of excellent choral singing from within the ensemble itself — not only from instruction, but from the example of those around them.
For adults, singing with choristers renews the purpose of choral music as something to be handed on. Adult singers become mentors, examples, and co-laborers in formation. Their musicianship helps shape the next generation, while the presence of young voices brings clarity, energy, and hope to the ensemble. Children also bring a necessary levity and joy, reminding the adults to sing not only with discipline and reverence, but with delight, wonder, and a certain holy lightness of heart.
Together, the adult and child members form a true community of learning, discipline, beauty, and sung prayer. This intergenerational model is not incidental to our work; it is central to who we are.
Regular Liturgies
The Saint Dunstan Schola sings regular liturgies in the Tampa Bay area, offering music in service of the sacred rites of the Church. Our repertoire is chosen to support the liturgical action, illuminate the texts of the day, and draw worshippers more deeply into prayer.
Sacred Music Formation
In addition to rehearsals and liturgies, The Saint Dunstan Schola provides ongoing formation in sacred music, including chant instruction, choral training, workshops, youth formation through the Chorister Guild, and opportunities for singers of all ages to deepen their understanding of the Church’s musical patrimony.
